Another great Montreal show!

Well, the Remembrance Day project, a.k.a. the WWI bunker has made it's way to Marijke's house now for final touches - and to correct any messes I have made! You can follow it's final finishing through her blog at Pulchinella's Cellar.

In the meantime, Louise and I headed to Montreal to take in their Club's annual show and sale. We drove to Montreal on Friday on a beautiful sunny day and arrived back home late Sunday night with our heads full and our wallets empty. What a great weekend.

As usual, we spent Saturday in the sales room. I headed directly for Janice Crawley's table for her wonderful porcelain creations before spending money anywhere else. For a list of the vendors at this year's show you can visit the vendors page on the MEM show website.

A new vendor this year was from our neck of the woods - well, the Maritimes anyway. Freedom Miniatures, located in Kentville, Nova Scotia, is owned and operated by veteran miniature artist, Shelley Acker. Besides holding miniature workshops and selling her own beautifully hand-crafted items, specialty woods and other top-quality miniature-making supplies, Shelley also features miniature works of art from several other Nova Scotia artisans. Here is an overview of her tables at the Montreal show.

Some of Shelley's own pieces, including a small, interesting vignette and her incredible lighting pieces of her own design:

A few of the wonderful Nova Scotia artisans that Shelley stocks:

Leather work and pottery by Jo-Ann Shaw

Paintings by Sherri Parker

Beautiful tatting by a few different artists:

Other than off to the side in the first picture with Shelley standing at her sales table, I didn't get any good pictures of the wonderfully detailed miniature food made by Tracey Rozee Sirat. My apologies to Tracey, and to any other artisan I may have missed here. I guess the best way to see them all is to take a drive to Kentville and visit Freedom Miniatures in person! I know you won't be disappointed.

So, after a day of oohing, ahhing and drooling over all of the tables in the sales room, we called it a day and rested up so we could be inspired by visiting the Club's display room Sunday morning before it was time to head home in the afternoon. What incredible pieces of art were found in there! Unfortunately, just as we had to wait until the next day to see them, so will you. *smile* TTFN!! - Marilyn

  1. Oh wow! I'm jealous. Sounds like you had a wonderful time! So good of you to show off the artists work.

    1. We had a great time, Sheila. It's a trip we look forward to every year. It's such a good way to say goodbye to winter and welcome spring - although the back to back snowstorms this week makes me think winter is fighting back! - Marilyn
